Proposal Submissions

The proposal submission process typically has 3 main parts.

Part 1: Idea/Concept Development

  • The PI develops a research idea or concept.
  • The PI may have already identified funding opportunities to fund the research idea or concept.
  • Sometimes, departmental contracts and grants analysts may be asked to assist in searching for funding.

Part 2: Proposal Development

  • The PI/direct staff works on the required proposal elements. E.g. Project summary, project description, biographical sketches, facilities & other resources, budget, budget justification, and etc.
  • In general, departmental contracts and grants analysts may be asked to assist the PIs with the budget and budget justification to ensure compliance with the funding opportunity as well as institutional requirements

Part 3: Review & Submission

  • Proposals are reviewed and approved by SPO or OGS
  • Proposals may be submitted by SPO/OGS or the PI.
  • SPO & OGS requires 5-business day for review.
  • Minimum document requirements in Cayuse SP are budget, budget justification, project summary, subrecipient packet and funding opportunity guidance.
